FSOSW & ACS

The Florida Society of Oncology Social Workers has a long-standing history with the American Cancer Society (ACS) which dates back to its beginning in 1982. Members of FSOSW support the American Cancer Society’s mission by taking part in fundraising opportunities and referring patients to programs including transportation, lodging, and navigation.

The ACS provides two annual awards to social workers through FSOSW including the Rising Star in Oncology Social Work and the Exemplary Leadership in Oncology Social Work. Learn more about these awards here.

The American Cancer Society's mission is to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. Through our partnership with ACS, we help ensure that people facing cancer and their loved ones have access to trusted information, personalized support, and critical resources throughout every stage of the cancer journey. ACS provides a wide range of services, including a 24/7 Cancer Helpline, navigation programs through ACS CARES and LION, personalized clinical trial matching through ACS ACTS, transportation assistance and lodging support, caregiver resources, survivorship support, and nutrition and treatment education.
