PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello FSOSW Members,
I am excited to be the President of FSOSW, after 42 years, these are big shoes to fill. The incredible group of Board Members make the role that much easier as we all have the common goal and mission to keep FSOSW as an engaged collaborative organization that supports each and every one of US!
I want to reflect on the incredible contributions that we as social workers bring to our patients and programs we work in. As Oncology Social Workers we are truly unique as we combine both our professional expertise and compassion to offer support to our patients and their families during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
In oncology social work, we are not just supporting individuals through medical treatment but are also addressing the emotional, psychological, and social challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis. We play an essential role in advocating for patients and their families, helping them navigate the complexities of their journey, and ensuring that they receive the compassionate care and resources they need.
As we continue to advance in our field, it is our collective strength, expertise, and compassion that will enable us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve. Together, we have the power to foster hope, resilience, and empowerment in the face of a diagnosis that can feel overwhelming.
I look forward to working alongside each of you as we continue to share knowledge, promote best practices, and build a community of support that enhances both our professional and personal growth. Your commitment to the field of oncology social work makes a lasting impact, and I am excited to see what we can accomplish together in the future.
We are actively planning our upcoming 42nd Annual Conference for Sept 10-12th in Boca Raton, FL. The theme of the conference this year is ONCOLOGY SOCIAL WORK: Critical Pieces of Puzzle. We will be accepting abstracts and look forward to having you present your work and share your knowledge. We are a dynamic and dedicated team of oncology social workers. Each of you have passion and sharing our collective expertise at this year’s conference is the gift we can provide to one another.
If there is a topic you need education about, email info@fsosw.org and let us know. We are volunteer led & run organization, so we need your help. Please email conference@FSOSW.org if you want to serve on our conference planning committee. Please encourage your colleagues to become a member of FSOSW. Also, we greatly appreciate anyone who is able to make a charitable donation to FSOSW as non-profit to help us sustain our efforts to provide the resources and the extraordinary conference each year.
Thank you,
Darci McNally, LCSW, OSW-C
